What is Delta-8 THC?
Delta-8 THC has gained a lot of recognition lately due to its likeness to delta-9 THC, which is the compound in cannabis that produces the sensation of a high. Delta-8, or more formally known as delta-8-tetrahydocannibinal, has similar but less potent effects, but can still cause euphoria, symptom relief, happiness, along with much more. Delta-8 THC is made from hemp-derived CBD but can also be made from cannabis itself. Delta-8 is closer to delta-9 than it is to CBD due to its chemical structure. Delta-8 and delta-9 both have a double bond that binds to the endocannabinoid system in the body, which produces the feeling of an intoxicating high.
Due to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is legally allowed to be grown all around the United States. This potentially allows for the legal selling of delta-8 nationwide, but many states are currently making decisions on the legality of this strand due to its sudden popularity. Productions have dramatically increased due to increased demand in states where delta-9 is illegal. State verification is required to purchase any delta-8 THC products.
